QUALITY GUITAR TUITION
I started lessons aged 15 years old and quickly became totally immersed in anything associated with the world of guitars! Daily practice over the next few years led me to gain a Distinction at grade Eight. I then went on to study full time at Trinity College Of Music; London, where I attained a Performance Diploma in Classical Guitar.
With over 25 years experience, teaching at local schools and from my home in Ash, I have a flexible adaptive approach to teaching and have pupils of all age ranges and ability.
I regularly perform as a solo artist at weddings and corporate events providing atmospheric background music. I have a large, diverse repertoire including my own transcriptions of popular songs, jazz standards and film music.

Results That Last
Lessons are usually taken on a weekly basis and cost £17 per 30 minute session.
Whether you wish to study the classical guitar style and read from standard notation or learn to play contemporary styles on the steel strung acoustic and read from tablature, I will always take the lessons at a relaxed pace to suit you and make your learning not only enjoyable but also educational. You just have to promise to practise regularly!
Classical Guitar
There are few sounds sweeter than that of a well played classical guitar. There is such a vast, diverse repertoire to enjoy; from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical era, through to the Romantic sounds of Latin America and Spain.
Acoustic Guitar
The steel strung acoustic guitar is one of the most popular instruments on the planet. Whether you wish to play interesting acoustic guitar solo pieces or use chords to accompany contemporary songs, I have the lessons for you.
Taking grades
Graded examinations are available in both classical and acoustic guitar styles. Whilst not for everyone, working from a structured syllabus towards a clear goal can give sense of achievement.
I really enjoy my lessons with Richard. I have been able to expand my repertoire and explore new ideas. I am now working towards my grade 6 acoustic guitar exam!
